Demonstration Garden

The Demonstration Garden was created in 2005, in collaboration with the Parks Department, to beautify an unattractive area of Ahtanum Youth Activities Park in Union Gap, Washington.
Master Gardener Foundation of Yakima County

The Demo Garden is divided into several smaller gardens, grouping plants by need for water, light, and soil conditions. There are gardens for shade, high desert, mint, ornamental grasses, culinary herbs,  gourds, alpine woods walk, cottage garden, a children's garden and more.

The garden showcases sustainable yet affordable gardening techniques. The walkways, arbors, fences, gazebos, benches and trellises are made of recycled and salvaged materials.

Self guided tours are available during park hours.  Master Gardener volunteers are available Tuesday mornings, during the growing season, from 8:00 to 10:00 for guided tours and to answer questions.
